Healthcare

You may be surprised and comforted to find out that the healthcare in Aruba is at a very high level. In Aruba you can find over 100 MD's and Specialists including Plastic Surgeons, General Surgeons, Gynecologists, Pediatricians and Chiropractors. Aruba also has excellent (Cosmetic) Dentists, Psychiatrist and Alternative Medicine Doctors.

The International Red Cross, the Fire Department and the Search & Rescue foundation, together with Aruba's fleet of 13 ambulances form the Emergency Medical Response unit. Besides the locations of these units near to Oranjestad, Aruba also has a full service Emergency Center "Centro Medico San Nicolas" located in San Nicolas, which provides for the handling of emergency situations on the east side of the island.

Aruba has also a full service Hospital (Dr. Horacio E. Oduber Hospital) counting 325 beds with over 14 specialist's departments.

Medical Health Care Facilities

If you are disabled, there is no need to look for a different destination. Aruba has plenty of facilities for the handicapped. There are some hotels (for example the Hyatt Regency Resort and the Marriott Resort & Stellaris) that have ground floor rooms and elevators so you can get into the room easily with a wheelchair. Other hotels that have rooms which disabled persons can use are for example the Aruba Palm Beach Resort and the Holiday Inn Beach Resort. Also, check out Red Sail Sports if you are interested in a diving course for disabled people. However, keep in mind that right now, some of the roads in downtown Oranjestad are not very suitable for people in a wheelchair. The government is working hard to fix the roads.

Judicial Service

The safeguarding of the fundamental rights and freedoms, legal certainty and proper administration of the law is under jurisdiction of the Kingdom of the Netherlands with the cooperation of the Arubian Minister of Justice. Judges of the Common Court in Aruba are appointed by the Queen. Appeals may be made to the Supreme Court sitting in the Netherlands.

Defense and External Affairs

The Kingdom of the Netherlands is responsible for the defense (the Royal Marine Camp in Savaneta) and external political and diplomatic relations.
